Zara needed an architect to help redesign her studio in Chowk. Kabir volunteered. What was supposed to be a two-week project turned into six months of working together, eating Tunday kebabs at midnight, and slowly realising they'd become inseparable.
A ten-day drive through Jaipur, Jodhpur, and Jaisalmer. Kabir sketched every fort. Zara bought textiles at every stop. In the middle of the Thar Desert, under a sky full of stars, he told her he wanted to build a life with her. She said she'd already started.
On the rooftop of the haveli Kabir was restoring in Kaiserbagh, surrounded by fairy lights and the Lucknow skyline, he asked Zara to marry him. She said yes before the question was finished — a family tradition, apparently.
